Highlights of Suu Kyi's Nobel Peace Prize speech

Highlights of Suu Kyi's Nobel Peace Prize speech By The Associated Press, Associated Press OSLO, Norway (AP) — Aung San Suu Kyi's Nobel Peace Prize speech explored her views on the ideals of peace, the seeds of war, the bonds of our common humanity, and the rare power of kindness. Here are the highlights. A single quote here:  "Ultimately our aim should be to create a world free from the displaced, the homeless and the hopeless, a world of which each and every corner is a true sanctuary where the inhabitants will have the freedom and the capacity to live in peace. Every thought, every word, and every action that adds to the positive and the wholesome is a contribution to peace. Each and every one of us is capable of making such a contribution. Let us join hands to try to create a peaceful world where we can sleep in security and wake in happiness." Toward eupan ~ ~ marty alan michelson,ph.d. Posted via email from Eupan Global Initiative

U.N. Sustainable Development

Image
A whimsically-creative-imaginative-artistic way to make us think about resources. I got this from This Is Colossal As part of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) an enormous outdoor installation of fish was constructed using discarded plastic bottles on Botafogo beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The sculptures are illuminated from the inside at night creating a pretty spectacular light show. Love this. See much more over on this Rio+20 Flicker set . "Made In Israel"

An article highlighting issues of commerce and trade from Israel and, as this article notes, "the occupied West Bank." The article highlights, among many issues of complex economic issues the fact that: Several weeks ago, South Africa issued a notice saying it wants to require merchants "not to incorrectly label products that originate from the Occupied Palestinian Territory as products of Israel." It said consumers should not be "misled" that the products originated in Israel. Hoping for more peace in the region of the world that includes the City of Peace - Jerusalem!
